Home-field advantage is real in MLS—and it’s typically stronger than in Europe. Since 2015, away sides have won roughly 24% of MLS matches (vs. ~31% in Europe’s “big five” leagues), according to American Soccer Analysis (source). In 2023, ESPN noted away teams were winning just 22.5% of the time (0.97 PPG)—travel, time zones, climate and altitude all play a part (source).
